Spring Opportunities: The PDSES Grant for Texas Families
Spring in Texas is all about growth — and this season brings an exciting opportunity for families of children receiving special education services. The Parent-Directed Special Education Services (PDSES) program from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) offers a $1500 grant to help families purchase educational goods and services that directly support their child’s learning.
If your child has a current IEP and attends a Texas public school, you may be eligible to apply. The funds come through an online account, giving parents the flexibility to choose what will best meet their child’s unique needs.
Key Details at a Glance
Amount: $1500 per eligible student
Eligibility: Student must attend a Texas Public School, have a current IEP and not have received a PDSES or SSES grant before

How to Get Ready
Because the application window is short, March is the perfect time to prepare:
Check your child’s eligibility. Make sure your student has a current IEP and attends a Texas public School.
Create your TEA account. You’ll apply through the TEA PDSES portal (linked on tea.texas.gov).
Plan Ahead. Think about what products or services would make the biggest difference for your child.
Mark your calendar. The portal opens on April 1, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. CST — apply early to secure funding.
At Grounded Roots Family Development Center, we know every child’s path to learning is unique. The PDSES grant gives families the chance to choose supports that truly fit their child’s needs — whether that’s sensory tools, specialized therapy, or academic tutoring.
As Spring blooms, take this chance to refresh your child’s support and plan ahead for the new school year. A few minutes of preparation now can make a listing impact later.
