3rd Annual Big Country Autism Walk

The Big Country Spectrum Connection is gearing up for the 3rd Annual Autism Walk, held in Abilene, Texas! Held on the first Saturday in April, this year’s walk will be April 6, 2024 starting at 9am at Redbud Park.

Save the date!

Maybe you have attended our walk in the past, or maybe this is your first time hearing about it. Either way, we want to invite you to a morning filled with fun, family, and making new connections.

This annual event brings together families, friends, and community members to show support for those on the autism spectrum along with their families. It's more than just a walk; it's a time of festivities, connections, and a powerful expression of inclusivity.

Now, you might be wondering, "Why should I lace up my sneakers and join the walk?"

RESOURCES, RESOURCES, RESOURCES!! Last year, we had over 25 resource vendors, and this year we are expecting even more! These vendors are local  services,  organizations, and businesses that support individuals on the autism spectrum. Knowledge is power, and the walk is an excellent place to gather information and resources. Free goodie bags will be provided to each family on a first come first serve basis.

INCLUSIVE FAMILY FUN: The walk is designed to be family-friendly, with activities for kids, entertainment for all, and plenty of smiles. The walking trail is stroller and wheelchair accessible. For safety,  visibility is easily maintained for the duration of the walk. The walk route is also directly near the playground if your child needs some space to run around or burn off extra energy!

ADVOCACY AND ACCEPTANCE: By participating, you become an advocate for acceptance and understanding. Show your support for those with autism and help spread awareness in our community. Together, we can break down barriers and promote an inclusive community!

So, mark your calendars, grab your sneakers, and join us for a day of celebration, connection, and acceptance at the Big Country Spectrum Connection Walk. Together, let's make a positive impact and create a more inclusive world for everyone!
