Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About Maternal Mental Health Therapy & Services

  • Currently, I have a small therapy caseload for maternal mental health clients. This includes women and their families that have any concerns about pre and post partum mental health including: postpartum depression/anxiety, OCD, birth trauma, pregnancy/birth PTSD, infant attachment, and parenting.

  • Some moms may feel guilt about seeking therapy for themselves. Selfish even. You may feel that there just simply is no time or space for you.

Maybe you feel like you give and give and give to your children until you have nothing more to offer. Sound familiar?

I am here to tell you… your family can not be whole unless you take care of yourself. Mind, body, and soul.

All parents deserve to be supported during this challenging time. You do not have to do this alone.

Reach out for a free consultation today and let’s see if therapy is a good fit for you.

  • Most therapists are generalists- meaning they see a variety of clients for common issues such as anxiety, depression, or life transitions.

Maternal mental health clients have unique needs that are often misunderstood or unaddressed by those without specific training.

Many moms are hesitant to share their scary thoughts or concerns with other healthcare providers for fear of being misunderstood or dismissed.

I understand that Good Moms Have Scary Thoughts. Here at Grounded Roots, you will not be dismissed. We will work together to walk the path forward in motherhood.

  • In most cases, yes. I have age-appropriate toys to keep toddlers occupied. Just let me know before our session, and we can plan accordingly.

 General Questions

  • Your appointment slot is reserved especially for you at the time of booking. For individual therapy appointments, I require at least 24 hours notice for cancellation or rescheduling. No shows or late cancelations will be charged the full session fee.

For your convenience, I offer telehealth services. This may be especially helpful for unexpected last-minute personal or child illnesses that come up, as well as inclement weather events.

Testing spaces are in high demand. When you book an assessment slot, I require a card on file at the time of booking in order to schedule your child’s testing slot.

I require 48 hours advanced notice of cancelation or rescheduling for assessment clients. No-shows or late cancellation for assessment dates will incur a $200 non-refundable cancelation/no show fee.

  • I am currently out of network with all insurance providers. However, I am happy to provide a Superbill: a document that you may provide to your insurance company to seek partial reimbursement for mental health services. This is not a guarantee of reimbursement.

As an out of network therapist and evaluator, I am able to offer more individualized, innovative, treatment plans to meet each family’s specific needs— not what is dictated by insurance.

I accept checks and all major credit cards. I can also accept HSA and FSA cards.

    60 minute sessions are $130

    90 minute sessions are $195

The total cost of a childhood evaluation is $2500, with payment plans available.

  • In short, yes. The content of our therapy sessions and your child’s assessment remains confidential. It is your choice if you want your therapist or evaluator to share information with your child’s other healthcare providers.

There are very rare occasions that confidentiality must be breached, according to law. These instances will be outlined in detail during our initial meeting.

  • Prior to our first appointment, you will be electronically sent new client paperwork to review, complete, and sign. I am happy to address any questions during our first visit.

At our first visit, you can expect that we will get to know one another. We will target areas for treatment, and work together to come up with a plan that meets your needs.

  • Yes! I do!

    THERAPY:

I am licensed to provide therapy services in the state of Texas, and I am happy to see you for telehealth appointments if you reside anywhere in the state of Texas.

For established therapy clients, the telehealth platform is accessible from your Simple Practice client portal. This is an easy-to-use, HIPPA-compliant telehealth platform.

    ASSESSMENT:

Initial intake and feedback sessions may take place over secure video conferencing in certain circumstances. (For instance if you live far away)

I do not offer telehealth appointments for the main portion of the assessments at this time. Children and families are required to attend this session in person.
